Where I am today, September, 2009
I am at a time in my life that I must rely completely on myself. While I was married for 25 years I relied on my partnership with my husband. I relied on insurance and a job for the next 11. I relied on my investments and social security for the last year, and now I realize that I am not going to really be happy until I step forward, and make the decision to live my life. I have prayed for years to have the inspiration to learn what my purpose on this earth is. I went to one inspirational speaker after the other but not until I listened to what Jeremy Brown and Chris Snook have to say did my life experiences make sense. I’ve always known that life should be about helping other people, but I’ve been too supportive. I have finally learned that if people do not want to be helped, all I can do is let them make their own decision to walk away, and not take offense at being rejected. It was not I that they had rejected but an opportunity for their own advancement. There are now 6,809,972,000-1 people remaining that might be at the right moment in their life to accept the opportunity.

I am a problem solver with an artistic slant. Before I was out of high school I would go to work with my father who owned an appliance store. He had purchased a lot some small merchandise that he had never carried before. It lay in a pile near the register for weeks and one day he asked me to see what I could do to make it move faster. I rearranged the merchandise in an attractive manner where the customers could see what it was and how it would be of benefit them to them. He was re-ordering the merchandise within a week. That was the first evidence that I had the talent to have a career in display & merchandising. (1971-1978)
Did you know that most caretakers forget to take care of themselves first before taking care of their charges? It may sound selfish, but if you are not personally healthy you will not be of service to another person. It is important that you are healthy physically, spiritually, and monetarily to be able to help others. These are the things I would like to do for the world, one person at a time. Teach them how to be healthy physically, spiritually, and monetarily.
I am an entrepreneur trying to help the world by helping myself first. That is why my book series is called “ICanUCan2”. I am resolved to being able to making myself healthy physically, spiritually, and monetarily, and if you want come along with me on this journey, please join me. Any business takes at least 5 years to become successful. In the fall 1987 my husband and I started a completely new type of business in our home community of Lexington, Kentucky. United Parcel Service was delivering packages around the United States, but their delivery time was from 5-14 days at that time. Federal Express, Airborne, and DHL, and Express Mail Service had not even begun. We wanted to create a fast delivery service for our community and for the state of Kentucky. Long story short, by 1982 we had built a business that had delivered packages to every state in the union except Hawaii and Alaska, and our delivery time was less than 2 days.
I have a new mission. It is to help as many of the world’s population, one by one, to produce for themselves and their family a better life. That was my father’s goal. To help his children live a better life than he had. I have learned that working for someone else is nothing more than a stop-gap measure on the way to my true security producing occupation, my own business.
I have two major strengths – organization and focus. Once I have something organized it cannot fail, however, sometimes I take too much time, focusing and getting organized that I miss an opportunity that might have presented itself. You will find the same, as generally your greatest strength will also be your greatest weakness. We need to work somewhere in the balance of these to produce positive results.
